Prebytecny ADSL modem

Nema nekdo prebytecny ADSL modem? Mam tu 2x ZyXEL, jednomu postupem casu priodesla WIFI, takze neprenasi velke pakety, druhemu odesla ta ADSL cast. A pak tu mam jeden Comtrend. Rekneme ze jsem ho... zachranil z nevhodnych podminek... fungoval krasne, jenze pak to schytal od blesku. (A nasledne ja taky, v ty veci jsou kondenzatory). Idealne neco jineho nez ZyXEL...

Zluty zacina byt hlasity

Ve "vybehu" omylem prekrocil bludny koren -- tedy pardon, padly ohradnik -- a zrejme se mu nechtelo riskovat druhe prekroceni bludneho korene. Chapu, takova chyba se udela, ten ohradnik o pul hodiny predtim nachytal i me. Tak proste stal, a rval. Na poprve mu odpovedela pulka staje, na podruhe jsem zpozornel co se to deje, a na potreti jsem mu odpovedel ze no jo, uz jdu.

Pak dostal trochu sena v "misce". Takove te vetsi misce, na koleckach, taky se ji rika kolecko. Jo, a zachoval se skoro jak kocka. Nejdriv prebral seno od slamy, a pak se tvaril ze "misku" prevrhne... proste uplne jako kocka. Jen ho teda musim pochvalit, kdyz se "ne" rekne dostatecne durazne, tak reaguje. (A tedy ano, kdyby nereagoval, reagoval bych ja :-) ).

Omylem jsem koupil syrup se sladidly. Muzu ho vylit do zachoda, nebo se musi likvidovat jako nebezpecny odpad? :-(

Gnome Software has this "wheel" button on packages... you press it, and it updates the package. That's not what I would have guessed it would do.

What is worse phone (OnePlus 6 with PostmarketOS) no longer sees the wifi. Any ideas besides "wipe and start again"?

This is what my fosdem talk will be about... and also fallback if hdmi from phone fails. My notebook with real slides is too far away due to mistake.

gsd-color. Not sure what it is supposed to do, but what it does is turning phone into hand warmer. killall -STOP gsd-color seems to fix it. #postmarketos on Samsung S4 mini VE.

Mozna jste si vsimli zjevnych podvodu na FB. Je videt ze na reklame se da vydelavat... i kdyz si reklamu zada podvnodnik. Dalsi dobry trik je, podvodnikum proste jen dat vyssi sazbu. Jo. A kdyz kliknete na jednu, tak jste asi na podvody nachylny, tak proc to nezkusit vickrat. Jak to rikaj "adblock je antimalware"?

Turns out #opencv is nice and easy to use. I now have fairly complete ISP (image signal processor, thing that turns raw bayer picture into nice looking jpeg) in Python in 212 lines of code.

Gentle charging should be possible on #oneplus6. Currently experimenting with code at gitlab.com:tui/tui.git ofone/charger.py.

I had many phones. Some were good, some were bad, and some were meh. Siemens sl45i looked like good phone, but it was not, partly because they forgot to debug it. Ericsson t68i was nice (70? grams), bluetooth was improvement. Nokia 6230 was very nice phone (99 grams), Nokia 6230i was downgrade, and Ericsson K700i was not a good phone. UI was not great and it would not hold in one piece.

I had HTC Dream (aka T-Mobile G1). Having Linux inside was "cool" but it definitely was not good, and was not a phone. Nokia N900 was better, Linux worked a bit better, but still not a phone. And than it got ... worse? Motorola Droid 4 is better version of N900, but bigger again. Pine Phone, Librem 5, OnePlus 6 ... yes, each one is better computer, but neither is really a good phone.

And then I got Geeksphone Keon (Firefox OS). It runs Linux (kernel 3.4 or something), but rather old one, and is certainly not a good computer, but it started feeling as a phone, again. Reasonably battery life (few days), and it would actually fit into pockets I had available when riding horses. I liked that one. 120grams.

And now I have a new toy (actually few "new" toys, thanks!) that starts to feel like phone. Samsung S4 mini VE (110 grams) is really nice phone. Small enough and can last few days (with LineageOS), and with #postmarketos it seems to be pretty good computer, too. It runs mainline kernel, and most of the stuff mostly works (except cameras). Wow! Once again, I have phone I like (or four).

Samsung was not even too evil when creating the phone, so you can just hold buttons and enter bootloader. Certainly improvement from OnePlus 6, where I will likely never get rid of red errors during boot. There is a bit of evil in the details, that "VE" or "value edition" is important. That is i9195i, which is very, very different from "S4 mini" or i9195. Mainline support is very limited for i9195 -- you will not get touchscreen, for example.

Any help would be welcome. And if you have S4 mini you do not need, I may be able to use it.

Earlier today I learned that pip includes a bunch of telemetry data in the HTTP User-Agent header for every request it makes, and has for >10 years (with increasing amounts of info): https://github.com/pypa/pip/blob/545eda389c41478e2f99d23212254d757d8c2cef/src/pip/_internal/network/session.py#L109
Not only is this not opt-in (as any telemetry should be), but there isn’t even an opt-out. I’m still shocked and not sure what conclusions to draw from this, except: This is not okay!

I remember there was quite an uproar when Go tried to add opt-out telemetry a while back, and rightly so. How did I never hear about Python doing this before? Sure, less details, but still sending telemetry without ever asking for consent.

I like #Python, I want to keep using it, but can I if core tooling ignores user consent like this? And what other key development tools (Python or otherwise) have things like that and I just haven’t noticed yet?
