If I were you I would not dare to make such statements 2 1/2 weeks before a conference where you see quite a few people your normally only interact with here in the fediverse, as there might be serious consequences. 🙃

@ljs @oleksandr it's quite common every fedi server has a different idea of who is following whom, if oleksandr doesn't follow you on your server, it probably isn't sending your posts to it, but as you're on a bigger server with more people, the posts probably just percolate to oleksandr's anyway and his server will display them to him

@ljs @oleksandr happens to me all the time, i am quite sure my server thinks i follow some people but their server doesn't and does not send me any posts, so i only get them when they get fetched to complete threads or with other people replies (and same for some people who think they follow me but only on their servers)

@pony @oleksandr @ljs damn I already thought federation sucked enough with not being able to see all 3rd party replies when I open a post. But if it's not even able to keep propagating explicit following reliably, that's nearly useless then.

@vbabka @oleksandr @ljs normally it kinda works because on most servers there are more people following so the posts get sent to them, however yeah, this is a very weak point
