Either the postman lies, or my postbox was robbed. Given no one needs a plastic transmission for the Braun mixer except me I tend to think Czech Post lies.
@vbabka Well, she mentioned the correct surname too, but the outcome doesn't change.
@oleksandr @vbabka yes, lies or mistake infinitely more likely than theft. the postmen are overloaded enough to tell fibs or lose track of what they're actually doing. had the, "thrown it into the mailbox", only for the actual delivery to happen two days later.
btw the part, is it the gears or the joint? https://www.printables.com/model/1004195-braun-multiquick-transmission-joint
@oleksandr @vbabka can you do some rough measurements? does it look anything like that one? or this? https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1826511/files
the second one is openscad, but i guess you can figure this would just take a couple of minutes to draw from scratch.
as far as materials go, i don't know. i think it needs to flex a little, so even pet might actually hold? we also got asa and nylon, so we might just print a couple and figure what works? (aside from the material, infill and a number of perimeters will impact durability and flexing).
@oleksandr @vbabka the second model suggests 95% infill, whereas i'd have a tendency go significantly lower and add perimeters. they don't specify material. but there are links to different similar parts too.
edit: duh, not much flexing. i only now realized where that fits. i'd assume about any material would do, but i actually have zero idea how yours could have failed. did it just crack/break? that would be easy to avoid.
@oleksandr @vbabka lol the model at printables actually suggests hammer smashing it onto the motor shaft :))
@lkundrak @vbabka Internal surface of the coupling got weared out so that it doesn't hold to the motor shaft. Previously, I fixed it with a small sheet of plastic (alternatively, it can be fixed by a plastic straw, but those got banned by EU, so eh I'm unable to find them now; imagine banning plastic straws having a negative impact on repairability and environmental friendness — this is the real example :)), but this gets weared out eventually too.
@oleksandr @vbabka oh, cool. it can be printed as tight as possible. maybe petg would deform eventually, but i think even that one could be made durable enough.
btw when installing bicycle handlebar grips (esp. those tough commie-era tough ones, but also modern rubber ones), it's common to put a little hair spray so they don't slip. it sticks well and dissolves in water when necessary.
perhaps either that, or a smidge of loctite or something would make it last longer.
dunno. or make it super-clean and do a tight press fit.
