Like the whole 'stick a highway through a city' thing... like no.
I'm a fan of cars but you have to plan things sensibly.
Public transport is obviously how you attack it but yeah not always easy.
I mean look at UK public transport outside of London (lol)

in slovakia they do not recognize pedestrian crossings. period.
czechs are a bit better at this, they only park in dedicated lanes, for busses, bikes & rescue systems
(obviously, not all of them. if you talk to them, you quickly realize this selects for a very specific sort of always-a-victim sort of people who can only be reasonably talked to once they start fearing for their lives)

@pony Ridiculous lack of ambition. Brussels had a plan to blanket the whole city in such restricted through traffic zones, before it got partially killed by some of our petty mayors.
