It has been a while since I last contributed to an open-source project without being paid for it

It's good to be back :)

@mairacanal I can't get myself out of that mindset even though now I'm paid for it... hobbyist-ism will always have a place in my heart

@mairacanal so your unpaid contribution is to a BSD?

@ljs Although I still have the same enjoyment I had when I joined the kernel, I used to contribute more outside the kernel.

Before starting to internship at Igalia, I used to translate Gnome/Fedora to pt-br, do Fedora packaging, and fix anything it could be improved in my desktop. With the years, I ended up focusing only in the kernel (+ userspace graphics).

It's good to come back to those random contributions I did in the past (and I really should come back to the Fedora community)

@mairacanal yeah there's something satisfying about just contributing for the sake of contributing.

At the same I sort of find myself needing to fixate on one area personally and my niche within a niche is mm.

I am trying to do music shit outside as my 'other thing'.

I think it's important to have some 'other thing' so you don't just end up drinking and crying and (as a colleague said amazingly) your drink ending up being mostly tears

@mairacanal AFAIK that has incorporated lots of FreeBSD and other BSD code, so I claim a correct guess ;P
