Ugh, I'm not doing this again. It's one thing to gamify things, and totally another to add stress and anxiety to your language learning.

@monsieuricon From what I seen (people having two phones to do duolingo better, I guess), Duolingo should be classified as addictive, along with alcohol, cocaine and Facebook...

@pavel ... and coffee (コーヒー), of course. Maybe Duolingo is a bit like coffee in the way that at some point most people learn to regulate their use. Slowly you learn your limits and how to not take too much. The „dark“ patterns get obvious enough for you to easily recognize them. Unlike with some of the more dangerous drugs, like Facebook, whose dark patterns stay in the dark. You know they are there, but always recognize them too late.

(Maybe.)

It took way too long for me to really understand the evilness of Facebook, and I still have the feel that Duolingo is not quite as evil, not in the same way.
