So, if someone doesn't speak any English and I don't speak enough Czech to put together a sentence... Is it worth trying to switch to Ukrainian at all, or will that just confuse things even more?

@monsieuricon Czech and Ukrainian are from two different siblings of the Slavic languages; Western for Czech, Eastern for Ukrainian. I can't find any reference about how intelligible they actually are :(

@mdione right, I'm aware in general, but I also know that there's a fairly sizable Ukrainian community in Prague, so I was curious if it's worth trying at all when the only other option is pointing and grunting.

@monsieuricon there are some differences, it's easier to read/write than speak/listen, but still worth a try! Just change some 'i's into 'o's and skip some vowels, as in 'вісім'(8) -> osm. Кава is thankfully also kava so you should be good 😊👍

@504 I just checked, and пиво is pivo, so I'm good to go!

@monsieuricon You can hit many funny moments, which might be fun itself :). There are several same sounding words with very different meaning. I personally enjoy the smeszne odpady (смішні відходи).
