DRM rant and also shady corners of the internets
Show content
I wish the EU came after Amazon's Kindle DRM next.

There's too many (often self-published) authors that sell their books exclusively via Amazon, but I don't have a Kindle, I don't want a Kindle, and even if I had a Kindle, I would run KOReader on it because accessibility. But Amazon tries really hard (but ultimately fails) to make it impossible for me to buy and read those books. Stupid greedy cunts.

(Yeah, most books can be downloaded on Anna's Archive, so I could in theory do that and then somehow pay money to the author, but… do they really deserve that money if they sell via Amazon only?)

@liskin I'll sell my book to you but only if you go to the smoking hill in Ostrava and send a video with bank details in semaphore and of course the day's paper and stating a generated hash code I will have provided you with

@ljs @liskin now I wonder if @cwayne's book is only for Kindle and he should be ashamed.

@vbabka @liskin @ljs plus I've just straight up emailed PDFs to people for free if they're unable to buy it for any reason
