@piggz @PINE64 Note that SailfishOS is non-free, and requires account for installing software from app store. If you want to donate, I'd suggest someone whose work benefits community.

@pavel @PINE64 There are multiple stores available, i include the Chum store, which includes only free-as-in-speeach software, all built from source akin to fdroid

@piggz @pavel @PINE64 The OS itself still has nonfree userspace components, right?

@newbyte @pavel @PINE64 Yes, there are UI components that are non-free. I try to be pragmatic about these things, there is a lot that is free, and it generally works well and is a coherent system, with lots of development and testing. We have all of kf5 libs available and many plasma apps, and others in the community are currently implementing xdg-deskop-portal support

@piggz @pavel @PINE64 Yeah, it just sucks for free operating systems as we cannot run apps developed for Sailfish unless they provide an alternative frontend that does not rely on Silica. (unlike the contrary where e.g. Plasma Mobile apps can be ported to Sailfish)

@pavel @PINE64 @newbyte depends on the app. I try to make my apps cross distro using a compatibility layer, check out Amazfish, which started life on Sailfish, but is now on UT and Kiragami platforms

@pavel @PINE64 @newbyte Other good examples are Puremaps, one of the best OS mapping apps, and my libcamera based Camera app, Shutter.

@piggz @PINE64 @newbyte Would you have an pointer to your Shutter app? There's screenshot app of the same name, making search hard..

@brie @PINE64 @newbyte @libcamera @pavel The design and layout was taken from advanced-camera, but the implementation is totally different using libcamera
