The cat is not mine :(

I like cycling, powerlifting, bad video games and metal.
Otherwise, I occupy my time with various bits in RISC-V land.

I do my best not to swear on lists in case it gets misconstrued, but the habit of referring to everything as "this shit" is really hard to shake..

Is linaroconnect worth me paying for something to listen to the talks live? Is there chat interaction and what's the delay between talks and video copies becoming available? (I'd swear I watched some videos after the conference last year, but can't even find them now, maybe I am misremembering).

Heh, last time I tried deleting 10,000s of emails from a folder in gmail it fell over and didn't delete any. Now it seems to take forever, but it at least works.

I wrote "like this" twice in a sentence in an email and now that is all I will think about for the rest of the evening.

I wrote a script when I first started having to send tags as PRs via email and called it "froth.sh". Cannot for the life of me remember why I did that. Makes heavy use of @charmcli 's gum, so maybe I picked a silly name to be thematic?

My profile says I am a bad video game enjoyer, but in the last year I dropped all "competitive" games and played MMOs (both wow and ffxiv), Last Epoch, Path of Exile and a bunch of single player games: Cyberpunk 2077, Everspace 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Baldur's Gate 3 and all the old Halo Campaigns (not Halo 5, I chose to pretend that doesn't exist). I think that makes me a good video game enjoyer :)

Always nice to write some code for a new feature, but end up removing as much code as you add :)

Baldur's Gate 3 would be the best single player game I've ever played if it were not based on D&D.

Decided to pick up Baldurs Gate 3, even if the D&D style shit is lost on save scumming auld me, but I am really loving the voice acting. Of course the fact that there's a bunch of Irish accents is biasing me, but it feels like one of the best parts of the game :)

Today's interesting discovery is that the c908 on the k230 (despite not really advertising it) supports Zicbom and the T-Head custom CMO stuff.

Apparently the Chinese documentation says it supports it but the English documentation just says "RISC-V Base Cache Management Operation ISA Extensions Version 1.0-rc2-2c97b28, 2021-11-05: Frozen.". In comparison, about a third of the user manual talks about the T-Head CMOs.

edit: I realise it is expected that the document would cover the custom stuff in far more detail, but for the other standard extensions it claims to support, it at least mentions that it supports the instruction and what it does.

Made for an interesting conversation on IRC with dramforever, revy and cyy this afternoon :)

Adding U-Boot support for the replacement riscv extension DT properties, come to find out that the extension detection there is completely broken, at least in QEMU.
It expects the ISA string to be 32 characters or less, probably true for all hardware it supports but untrue in QEMU for a long time. I guess there aren't too many ISA string parsers, but I do wonder how many others are broken in the face of the "fancier" strings.

Ywe Caerlyn is my favourite poster on lkml. I have no idea what this is meant to be, but it is great:
