Starting to feel like this 2025 Influx of users is much larger than 2022 Influx of users. New users come in huge waves. Many of them also seem to genuinely like Mastodon according to the feedback. In 2022 many tried, soon gave up and left to Bluesky or back to X. Today, many have even deleted their commercial accounts and settled here.

I like this new development of things. Seeing new faces and more cat photos brings me so much joy. Thanks for being here. Remember that you matter. bunhdheart

@bagder Mitchell Baker from Mozilla, especially with last year's track record and actions, is IMHO a worse joke.

Also, only reading this part of the spec and some helpful tips in the bug led to a candidate fix: https://github.com/paritytech/polkavm/pull/260

90% time other stuff in psABI is somewhat self-explanatory.

@suihkulokki Maybe I got it wrong in the first place?

@suihkulokki maybe I checked it wrong at the time but I ordered print from UK directly to Finland a lot between 2020-21. Cannot find reference anymore but I recall checking from somewhere that I can order that within some limits without paying customs :-) Neither I was asked to pay it ever.

@suihkulokki BTW Finnish version: "EU:n ulkopuolelta tuotavista lehdistä pitää maksaa arvonlisävero ja tehdä tulli-ilmoitus 1.7. alkaen – koskee myös verorajan yli Ahvenanmaalle tuotavia lehtiä"

It was capped to something like ~150 EUR or similar figure per year so not very feasible for any kind of tax evasion scam ;-)

On the other hand, I think it is good for Europe that there is a low barrier for people living in UK and EU to read print media and get new angles and perspectives, right? It was an investment for democracy.

Even from hobbyist magazine like Computer Music I also give a dose of culture and society...

I used to order sometimes books or even a magazine subscription (Computer Music) from UK. I guess those times are over:

https://tulli.fi/en/-/magazines-imported-from-outside-the-eu-are-subject-to-vat-and-need-to-be-declared-to-customs-as-of-1-july-concerns-also-magazines-taken-across-the-tax-border-to-the-aland-islands

In addition I can no longer use a printing service with decent prices and great user experience:

https://doxzoo.com/

I'm not sure if this the best way to fight against tax evasion/paradises but I guess politicians know better 🤷 What a disappointment.

Any within-EU service that is equivalent/near in user experience when comparing to Doxzoo?

When it comes to blockchain technology, I'm happy that it is so disregarded because usually in software it is best for job security to focus on disregarded and under-evaluated technology :-)

When I started working on TPM2 everybody said to me that TPM equals to DRM.

Now people say to me that blockchains equal to shitcoins.

It is usually best to make your own analysis and decisions and ignore the group pressure. If you go with group pressure, you are just more likely to be unemployed in the long run, because there is a queue of clones of you waiting.
