brauner@mastodon.socialI've done a series that adds support for AF_UNIX sockets in coredumps. Userspace provides an AF_UNIX socket path via core_pattern and the kernel connects to it, shuts down the read side and writes the coredump to the socket.
This means no more super privileged usermode helper upcalls and makes for a very nice API experience. I captured coredumps simply via socat:

The receiver can use SO_PEERPIDFD to get a stable handle on the crashed process.

jarkkoIf I was honest, it was all bullshit and made a huge mistake taking that job, and actually getting fired was my favorite moment in that job (not joking). WTF I was thinking. But yep, also contract went down the fucking drain too and I had to hand deliver it myself. LOL. It's really therapy to say this out that I was fucking stupid, i.e. triggers a trauma but it's like when poop comes finally into potty after constipation ;-) I apology the unrelated parts ... and thank you for mentioning (I really do mean this, neither a joke).
