I've said this before but if you need to test something with graphics but don't want to use GPU, try either:

1. https://github.com/emoon/rust_minifb
2. https://github.com/emoon/minifb

They give you display and 32-bit framebuffer. No bullshit. Neither is dependent on the other. They just implement same things.

Even Web is supported (in both) when compiled to wasm (I'd guess).

Sometimes using GPU can really get in the way of testing so good keep in mind :-)

Tue: lost a job
Thu: got a job

On a fast track I guess... Feels like almost plane crash in Indiana Jones movie or Servo's contribution curve between 2018 and today :-)

Those companies that will replace their staff with AI will eventually be also failing companies. Those who understand some relevant apps such ass smart energy will succeed.

Since I've said negative things about Microsoft and Windows in the past, I also have to give credit where it is due (because otherwise I would not have any integrity).

Thanks MS for taking the righteous path, my respect for the company raised by factors:

https://www.hrgrapevine.com/us/content/article/2025-01-21-apple-microsoft-double-down-on-dei-as-trump-begins-dei-dismantling

We can have our differences in tech matters but then there are things that actually matter like human rights for instance.

Packer is superb for e.g. testing kernel:

https://www.packer.io/

I like to use it together with NixOS so I end up with two files describing the operating system.

Maybe it is time for closed source movement ;-)

It provides better AI governance.

I took my home page (jarkko dot codeberg dot page) and resume away only for the sake reducing scavenger exposure a bit. For job queries I can always email my resume, not a big deal really.

Similar ideas also support reducing social media profile descriptions to OpenPGP ID (which I did).

"keep calm and hack linux"

My job situation back to more Linux oriented work, which should allow me to have space to work on also on my unfinished patch sets i.e.

1. Continue with v4l2-loopback (according to Git last time touched 2025-19-01)
2. TPM2 asymetric keys (2024-11-18).

Nothing is fully closed yet but having a meeting for one decent opportunity tomorrow that I will consider. Thus, also open for queries since you never know until ink is on the paper of course ;-)

Got some books. The bottom one: I'm familiar with it just did not have my personal copy. Made sense to order it now as I pre-ordered Randal Hyde's (aka a living legend) new ARM edition: https://nostarch.com/art-arm-assembly-volume-1

Why I every time I hear something about Discord it is next level fucked up nuclear waste?

False compromising claims (sexual abuse etc.), death threats, hate campaigns and other aligning stuff that is better to keep distance off.

Never been there so might be wrong.

Our newest research project is finally public! We can load malicious microcode on Zen1-Zen4 CPUs!

To be crystal-clear: diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility are core Fedora Project values.

I switched back to mutt from aerc after two or something, and it was a good decision. Two or something years of using aerc made me more ineffective. I used mutt since 1999 before trying out aerc.

- Multi-account is counter-productive over "mutt -e "source ~/.mutt/kernel.muttrc", if you use subaddress extension for multiple email addresses (RFC 5233). I often e.g. send to LKML from wrong email address.
- Mutt has more effective search and filtering out of the box with no external programs required.
- Less confusing configuration. It's raw and simple.
- User-defined headers (my_hdr).
- Having a terminal is a disadvantage because I neither need it or want it.
- The source code of aerc is alien to me because I don't use Go. In mutt I can directly read from the source code what it does.

This has been grown for some time but it requires always a bit of effort to switch.

FOSDEM kind of pushed me to finally do it because I have no respect on Drew DaVault's recent actions but it does not root to that (as you can see above) :-)

One thing is sure: not travelling to US during this term for any reason. Too much chaos and mayhem. Should be listed high-risk countries to travel into.
