My kid spent the last 5 days building an ALU emulator in Minecraft with redstone and switches. Predictably, I've come up with a lot of "I think I just saw an actual spectre in your CPU" jokes, but thus far failed to execute them.

Not sure what's causing it yet, but our primary mirror replication speeds are down to 20Mbps from the usually healthy 4-5 Gbps. I don't think it's anything on our end, so I'll try to flag our Equinix support overlords.

Ask fedi: There are a few "raspi-like" boards built with riscv, but a) is there a decently working one, and b) is there a raspbian-like distro to go with it?

It's now been half a month since I asked Red Hat for their "free RHEL subscriptions for Open Source Infrastructure." I still don't have them, so even if this program is legitimate, it's certainly not a quick process.

Achievement unlocked: solo-umpiring an 18U-A game in 34°C heat and 70% humidity wearing full plate ump armour.
