Hey, American college students, it would be helpful for the U.S., the world, Palestinians, and Israelis, if you would turn your attention to defeating Donald Trump in November. Read about his fascist plans in this recent extended interview with him. https://time.com/6972021/donald-trump-2024-election-interview/

Oh, yes, reftables made it into git! Still preliminary, but it's something I've been looking forward to for ages. Less so now that we don't run CAF repos with their bajillions of refs, but still exciting.

The blinding rage of settling down comfortably in your reclining armchair with your laptop, only to realize that you had left your Nitrokey in the bedroom in your other pants.

The Future of MySQL is PostgreSQL:
Today, at Postgres Conference 2024, we introduced a PostgreSQL extension we are developing, which enables MySQL applications to run on PostgreSQL without any code changes by supporting the MySQL wire protocol, SQL syntax, and procedural language.

A.R. Moxon, Verified Duck 🦆

The bribed Supreme Court is ruling on whether or not, for example, Joe Biden, is allowed to order the military to take, for instance, the Supreme Court, and to have them, for example, murdered.

You’d think this would be an easy one but actually it looks like it’s gonna be kind of close.

Welp, there go my plans to finish Sim Settlements. With all the attention on the Fallout show, Bethesda released an update to FO4 and now none of the mods work any more. Sigh.

My feature set for b4-0.14 is looking pretty complete. Now to do more testing and fix some reported bugs.

When did we start calling every "what happened" analysis a "post-mortem" and how can I convince everyone that it's not ok? Here are some better options:

- root cause analysis
- post-flight inspection
- what the heck just happened meeting

Mistyped "b4 prep" as "b4 oreo" and now I want to find an excuse to create that command.

If you're wondering why my LinkedIn profile says "flooring inspector" is because of a long-running joke. You see, once or twice a week I get calls on my *personal* mobile number from sketchy "IT security" companies peddling their products to anyone with "IT" and "Director" in the title. I'm 100% convinced that they are working from some stolen and resold sources, because I never use my personal mobile line for business (I have a Google Voice US number that I always put into any work-related forms).

For a few years now I've been trying to convince these callers that they have reached the wrong person and that I'm actually with "Lennox Foundation Repair." Yes, I do IT because I'm in charge of the laptop used to inspect the subfloors with a camera.

I know this is petty, but it brings me 2 minutes of schadenfreude joy as I hear the poor sod on the other end of the line get progressively more and more confused.

(Bonus points if you get the "I'm a flooring inspector" reference.)

I know you're curious, but "toilet paper roll under seat" is just a clickbait article. Its a "life hack" but not for you -- it's for people who want you to click on junky ads.

(That said, if you go into a public bathroom and find a toilet paper roll under the seat like that, it probably means that there is no toilet paper in that stall. It's a fact that you really want to know ahead of time, so give proper mental thanks to the thoughtful person who set that up.)

I had to verify it, but it's indeed a random ad that just happens to be a poignant commentary.

Initial implementation. The goal was to show a quick summary without outputting a wall of obtuse text.
