Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
@rmader @linmob @dino So... how much are you willing to help? If have auto-exposure support for libcamera, the rest of the stuff should be relatively easy, but integration is definitely not...

@caleb
@cas I'd really like to see a small phone. Ideally something like Nokia 6230 -- less than 100g, can do calls, connect something else if you want to browse the web. Espruino + serial modem should do the trick. Can help with the software parts. Probably could hack together the boards, too, but case would be harder for me and this is really project for a group. (Currently using Geeksphone in this role).

Facebook's "give us your many or your personal data" choice seemed very wrong to me. I'm glad I was not the only one. https://www.seznamzpravy.cz/clanek/ekonomika-meta-celi-obvineni-ze-v-evrope-pouziva-nekale-obchodni-praktiky-240700

"Bad Apple" is like "Hello world" but with dancing girls. I need one for my watch.

The on stand will be at once again this year!

We're looking forward to showing off devices running , , , , , and as well as devices from Research.

What a line up!

Last year we got a phenomenal response. We're hoping this year will be even bigger and better.

Is it possible to run web server inside web browser with appropriate permissions? I'd like to do that on FirefoxOS.

@Precz @capyloon @postmarketOS Yep, that would be cool, but likely a way too much work. I'd be happy if it was possible to buy open phones of similar size, but...

@Precz @postmarketOS @capyloon Fun. I'm actually playing with FirefoxOs now. I got Geeksphone Keon, which I like because it is small. You may be able to get some hardware running FirefoxOS, either old one running original FirefoxOS, or something running KaiOS (spelling?).

@dos @martijnbraam @supertobi @nobodyinperson Enabling 10-bit with limited resolutions would be already good step forward. Actually, adding few more modes with full resolution and some crop may help with bandwidth, and would be useful for testing zoom.

RP2040 has a ROM. That was somehow expected. But software on the boad actually calls the ROM during runtime, because it would be shame to have unused space in 16KB ROM. Wow, I did not expect that one.

@martijnbraam Basic AF is really not that hard. Doing it well, debugging it under all conditions and optimizing it for focus speed would make it way more interesting.

Got qemu to emulate Original Espruino. That was easy but rp2040 may be a lot (or too much) work. https://gitlab.com/tui/qemu/-/tree/devel?ref_type=heads

@martijnbraam Yep, i2cset in millipixels .... is not a way to go. I believe I was not the one to do that particular hack. There's ton of work everywhere around the cameras :-(. BTW word of warning, the AF is actually the hard part, because it is time-critical, the rest should be easy in comparison.

I believe rp2040 needs to be supported by qemu... but this is my first encounter with qemu. Hints would be welcome. I can't believe I'm first one to need it.

@martijnbraam Aha, so you are aware of that work, good. I'm currently busy with some work and BangleJS smartwatch, but hope to get back to that. This really needs to be done in libcamera.

@martijnbraam Hi! If you want autofocus, AE, and AWb take a look at millipixels application. It is fork of your megapixels (thanks a lot!), but it has that stuff (+ hacky video recording). A _lot_ of improvement is possible, but basics are there.

I even have patches to libcamera to do AE. Unfortunately they are hacky and merging tuff to libcamera is not easy.

@martijnbraam "You're either destined to work on everything alone or work on projects that are large enough to make 90% of the time spend the internal politics." There are some projects that are in the sweet spot. Midnight commander used to be one of them, Bangle.js is one such project today. https://github.com/espruino/BangleApps
