Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
I see enough cats here, not too many dogs, but definitely not enough horses. So, who has a horse? And who clicker-trains him?

@martijnbraam @papiris You don't want to know what kind of connection this particular box has :-). I did not have ethernet in the room, so I reused some very, very old hardware. Anyway, browsing while pedaling is not really convenient; watching videos is, as is simple gaming. Still looking for game that would be suitable for bike support.

@libcamera Yep, thanks, I found it in the meantime. Unfortunately, huge tables of raw numbers means that the driver is not really useful in telling how the hardware works.

So now I have bike + joystick controlling supertuxkart. Fun, but still not perfect. It would be cool to have game designed for bike, as tuxkart simply has speed limit for an "engine" and that's not great match for bike.

@georgetakei Actually no. Judges at Haag should interview Putin. And with some luck they will, and I'm looking forward for that moment.

Hodne lidi od pocitacu je ve fediverse, coz je proste lip udelany system; ted jeste aby se presunuli i lide od koni :-).

@papiris @martijnbraam Yep so.... that was rather easy to do, and I have implementation of "pedal to playback video" at https://gitlab.com/tui/tui/-/tree/master/freewheel?ref_type=heads . Its not entirely satisfyling as it makes you pedal at constant speed.

@dcz @krafter I agree that libcamera code is complex & tricky, but biggest problem is that it has to do awful lot of work. It is basically camera drivers in userspace. And situation will not get better by providing second place where to store camera drivers...

@kernellogger Social network is wrong place to comment on this. AUTOSEL picks up a lot of non-fixes, it may pick this. If not, you can write to stable mailing list if you care.

@martijnbraam :-) My idea was to tie it to video playback, and play video at speed corresponding to "bike" speed. That would give virtual ride with right video (and motivation to keep going with others).

Got indoor bicycle. Made it emulate mouse button press with rotation of the pedals. Now looking for some kind of software / game / training tool to work with this...

@dcz @martijnbraam Experimenting is not bad... but splitting developer resources is. World needs a place to store 3A algorithms, and consensus seems to be libcamera is that place. And yes, libmegapixels already is splitting effort, but starting a third one really will not help.

@dcz Umm. Don't...? There's a good reason libcamera exists, and while I may disagree with some of the decisions, starting libobscura is not a way to go. First, you are seriously underestimating the amount of work. Second, please take a look at libmegapixels. @martijnbraam

Proof that speed of light is limited -- https://bgr.com/tech/this-iphone-photo-of-a-bride-shows-a-crazy-matrix-glitch-but-its-easy-to-explain/ . Seriously, phones should really not do this. [Fotka z iPhonu, neupravovana. Povidejte se na ruce, jak je to mozne?] :-)

@rpluim @drewdevault So... what is the replacement? I'm using "mg" on PinePhone, because emacs does not work there with acceptable performance, but I suspect it already lost my data. Emacs does get a lot of stuff right...

@godlessmom Nice and funny :-)... and great way to get dumped I guess.

Hacking device trees is less fun than it should be. Various checks require packages not in Debian; they are in pip3, but they don't work.

@louis @zyd I don't believe patents are the problem. Missing documentation from chip vendors, chip vendors not caring about small manufacturers, and the fact that pretty much everything has to work for an usable phone. It is just a lot of work.

@zyd Pinephone is not open hardware. But is closest to usable phone ATM.

@fosdem Would it be possible to publish the room recordings, so that interested parties can seek to the specific talks? I ran out of published videos :-(.
