Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
@dcz So my plans are:

Modify obscura_getframe:

1) add GRW trailer specifying format

2) create files as .tmp, only moving them to .grw when hey are complete

3) capture continously

More details and how to get ucam working are on https://gitlab.com/tui/tui/-/tree/master/ucam?ref_type=heads .

Any comments? :-)

@kernellogger @arnd @torvalds Highmem is needed to keep 32-bit machines useful. Without it, limit is 1GB RAM or something like that. You need 2GB RAM for useful web browser... Plus, Thinkpad X60, the second best notebook ever, is 32bit. I have one with 3GB, and it would be nice to keep it going.

@mircoxi You should not upload porn to their bugzilla. I guess that's what they are saying... They can't control what you do on your computer, and AUP does not even pretend to claim that. (Good). Their TOS is bad because they claim it covers your use of Firefox, when it does not / can not. The AOS is ok.

@dcz But the code in raw.rs can only do single frame ATM, so that is not easy to test...?

@dcz Okay, so ... I did some rather crazy hacks, and my python scripting can now do live preview (at 1fps) and am close to taking photos. Would there be interest in that?

@dcz I got it running, thanks. I did not look at the output, but it takes 1.2 seconds on Librem5. Simple on-cpu solution is faster than that :-(.

@radxa @jevinskie @hrw You should not be releasing binaries before you are sure you can release sources.

Lens moving. This is what maintaining LED subsystem does to you :-).

There's something wrong with autofocus on Librem 5. I can hear the LEDs moving even when I'm not requesting focus changes... And I get blurry images. Both Megapixels and libobscura-based stuff is affected, so I no longer believe it is problem in Megapixels.

@airtower @mttaggart What's this nonsense? Laws mean I should follow MPL (with some exceptions), but I don't have to care about their acceptable use policy. My computer, none of their business. "Your use of Firefox must follow Mozilla’s Acceptable Use Policy," <- which law says so?

@mttaggart Are you sure this applies way you think it does? MPL should be license that applies when you try to use Firefox.

@dcz @badrihippo X220 is limited to two crtcs. X230 should lift that limit, IIRC, so you should be able to use digital output + VGA + internal LCD at the same time.

@ozzelot @fell Its called "featurephone". I'd really like one good featurephone. Nokia 6230 was very nice. Add wifi and scripting in Espruino, and I'm going back. (6230i was not as nice. Apparently creating a phone that feels nice is art.)

@TwoClownsEating Yeah. And when you do confusing/sneaky/.. thing to force someone into agreement, that's a fraud. Unfortunately, this one is common and not commonly prosecuted :-(.

@TwoClownsEating Would be fun to get lawyer from EFF and suing Samsung for damaging your TV. Because they did not really give you way to opt out, and did not tell you what you are opting into...

@TwoClownsEating I believe lawmakers need to step in here. People should have right to go to older firmware if they choose. Samsung broke hardware they don't own, and that's not okay.
