Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
Got indoor bicycle. Made it emulate mouse button press with rotation of the pedals. Now looking for some kind of software / game / training tool to work with this...

Proof that speed of light is limited -- https://bgr.com/tech/this-iphone-photo-of-a-bride-shows-a-crazy-matrix-glitch-but-its-easy-to-explain/ . Seriously, phones should really not do this. [Fotka z iPhonu, neupravovana. Povidejte se na ruce, jak je to mozne?] :-)

Hacking device trees is less fun than it should be. Various checks require packages not in Debian; they are in pip3, but they don't work.

@airtower Thanks for the #pinephone #wifi work. Works for me, you have details in the email . Meow? :-).

#pinephone: Missing anx7688 driver in mainline seems to be responsible for both no charging and no video. That should be first step towards something usable...

[SOLVED] Is anyone flying to from on Wednesday or later? A delivery of fedora ❤️ python stickers will likely arrive in Prague too late for my colleague to pick up on his way to Brussels.

Help us spread the love and bring the stickers to FOSDEM for the @fedora booth (or just boost for reach, thanks).

Does anyone else use CutiePi here? Its a tablet with rpi 4 cm inside. I'd like to get it to work completely; hdmi out and suspend would be useful. Currently, it is running Ubuntu, but software runs something to be desired. Is there something I should try? Best Debian based?

Got 6.8-rc0 to boot on pinephone. Good. Got to disable v4l and usb power delivery to get there. Not so good.

Got 6.7 to work on pinephone. Now libcamera does 15fps instead of 8. Good.

Got self-compiled 6.1 kernel to boot on pinephone. I may turn this into small notebook after all... Now, if there was a simple way to rotate text-mode console, that would be nice. (Text mode is all I have for now).

How do I tell mobian "don't try to autosuspend for next 8 hours" or better "don't try to autosuspend until kernel build is finished"? Unix was not expecting sleepy computers...

Looking for operating system; preferably simple&opensource one. DOS-class, that is has filesystem and runs programs from filesystem, but single-tasking, without user/kernel protection. For machines with > 16MB RAM we have linux. I'm looking for something for machines between 128KB and 16MB. Extra point if it is not too ugly and is Unix-style, 8.3 naming convention is close to disqualifying DOS...

lds and Makefile, and I have code running bare-metal (ok, s-mode) on risc-v. Wow. Easier than expected. https://gitlab.com/tui/tui/-/tree/master/vroot?ref_type=heads

@martijnbraam I'm debugging low framerates with main camera on PinePhone. I can't convince libcamera to get more than 8.5 fps. So I tried megapixels, I could not clone from main site, so I have:

519570a267ad8e70c16f45c7157ac195f57c4c66 (HEAD -> master, origin/master, origin/HEAD)
Remove calibration data for PP front camera (MR 34)

Preview looks nicely smooth, but AFAICT it is around 7fps. I'm on mobian. Any idea of possible causes / how to debug that?

"If it's max, not a pax". It looks like 737MAX saga is continuing, this time it is not computers. It looks like door flew of a plane at 14000 feet, vas-av has a good video on youtube.

@jiska First, thanks for nice talk at 37c3. I don't have an iPhone, but catching IMSI catchers is cool. OTOH it is also too late -- by the time you analyze your logs, IMSI catcher already has your position logged.

Early gsm phones (like Nokia 5110) had service menus with capabilities such as 'lock to specific cell tower' which could be used to prevent that -- just lock your phone to "known good" cells. Have you seen similar functionality in modern modems?

Trying to do debayering on CPU using vector extension. So far targeting x86-64 and pinephone... and so far it is few times slower than naive approach. Is there good high-level overview of avx and neon somewhere? Any hints? Anyone willing to help?

"Recently" terminals started beeping when mouse enters/exits the window. It seems like running emacs remotely then terminating the connection does that. How is this ... annoying glitch called and how do I get rid of it? Debian 11.8 with mate.
