The air quality gauge is hovering between "very unhealthy" and "dangerous" (240).

Unfortunately, the forecast is looking like the smoke is going to sit right atop us for a few days.

@monsieuricon Hey, do a re-do of Portland from a few years ago.

Because once the AQI is past 500, it’s no longer in the “Hazardous” range, and there are no more angry colors to describe it. So it must be fine. Right?

@torvalds yeah, I know this is fairly routine for the West Coast, but it's not something we're used to seeing in the East. Though we probably should find ways to cope, as this will not get better over the next decades. :/

@markusl I have central air with a good filter in it, so we just run it continuously and the air inside the house is fine.

@monsieuricon @markusl FWIW: I did that for a year or so, but found that having a proper air filter appliance for the bedroom helped a lot. Might just be my horrible Northern California HVAC, though (we don't even have the AC part...)

@palmer @monsieuricon @markusl what, there are houses in the US without an AC?

@vbabka @markusl @monsieuricon we sort of half have AC: the furnace supports it, but we don't have the compressor side of things. That said, we don't even have windows that shut so I doubt AC would do us much good ;)
