Honestly fuck LaTeX at this point.

@ljs the book about memory management, which couldn't be typeset due to poor memory management...

@ljs Even when I first encountered it around 1989, TeX's memory management was a big of an 😮 moment.

Also that whole thing from early TeX where you have this hacky program that "undumps" TeX from the binary you compiled and a core dump you forced after everything was initialized ..

@acsawdey yeah and my publisher uses overleaf so I really don't know how I'm going to srt this out...

I am doing a crazy scheme with reference numbering so print readers can follow functions but maybe I have to abandon that or somehow optimise? Probably is the biggest issue tbh

@ljs If your reference number scheme is exploding TeX ... yeah. Maybe a 2-pass scheme external to TeX that reads log file from the first pass and constructs the references? Or maybe there's an extra pair of {} in there somewhere that magically makes TeX use 10x the memory that you could remove 😂

@acsawdey this will break overleaf again. I might just have to abandon it to be honest... sucks really!

@vbabka @ljs TeX is not living in this century. It was declared bug-free long time ago, so you must be hitting a feature :-).
