both have the issue of requiring an account, which renders out public institutions and events for e.g. doing announcements or real-time schedule updates.

if this is true, then #twitter must be using military grade #security. #threads #instagram

surprisingly the intel machine runs on 550W power, which is a surprise, no hick ups. thought that i would have to buy a new power when i upgraded but still going strong. i have e.g. SATA disabled from BIOS because it only has a single M.2. drive.

doing new image to #vmware #fusion. in ubuntu-server i don't understand why LVM is default unless you encrypt. it just adds a layer of complexity...

i have two dev machines: intel all-arounder (i9-13900k, arc a770, 64 GB) and mac mini m2 pro (12/16 32GB). they are in different locations. the all-arounder is at my GF's place so that i have chance to see her :-) right now at my basecamp in tampere downtown trying to make sense of macOS. #lifehack

i solve this by putting aerc to my ubuntu vm, which i use for aarch64 testing (runs in #vmware fusion).

@monsieuricon I was thinking more like use cases where Twitter is traditionally used without an account. This could be announcements of a public organization, conference schedule updates and so forth. For that use Twitter is no longer an option, and Threads caps those use cases.

@monsieuricon No Instagram, no Threads, right? Does not seem to provide the coverage of "pre-Musk" Twitter.

The #paid #subscriptions I have (#everything):

  1. #YouTube Premium
  2. #Dropbox (2 TB).
  3. #iCloud (50 GB just a staging buffer for iCrap).
  4. #SoundCloud super artist whatever shitty account name they had. The service is great but their subscription labels are confusing. I guess I should get a Xanax addiction to understand them.
  5. #Bookbeat
  6. #NordVPN
  7. #Voi electric scooter (300 min / month).
  8. #Kapsi Internet-users association.
  9. #Splice

Just wanted to recall what I pay for…

I’m finally going through LKML and posting my horribly delayed pull request for v6.5. Considering Finnish yearly celebrations, such as Mid-Summer Eve, the timing was just super awful. #linux #kernel #lkml #pullrequest #pr #tpm #keyring #sgx #x86 #intel

@EntropySloth and also, if one reviews patches, the patches might come from quite variable palette of political systems. at that time, i only look at the code, i don't really care about politics as long as communication is aligned with the code of conduct.

this also applies to companies. when i was working at intel and reviewing kernel patches, i completely ignored the source of patches, and absolutely never favored intel in lkml.

i think my beliefs help with this type of thinking when you have your kernel maintainer hat on, but even if i had some other views, i'd stay strictly professional and ignored all that. it is all about contracts that you make and i like following those that i make.

@EntropySloth yeah no worries i understand :-) being neutral means also not attacking on people when they say their opinions, if they are polite when they state their opinion. that is what being inclusive means.

@EntropySloth they are also wealthies countries in the world, not too many people live in the streets, and people generally happy of their lives and well educated. it could be better of course but i guess balancing market economy depending on situation has been pretty well tested.
