There's a presser going on right now about the Estlink 2 electricity cable cut. In addition to Estlink 2 and C-Lion1 two of Elisa's fiber optic cables between Finland and Estonia have been cut and a third cable is damaged.

Apparently the coast guard and police have boarded an oil tanker by helicopter and taken control of the bridge. They saw the tanker dragging its anchors so seems very cut and dry.

This is the tanker: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:712379/mmsi:518998865/imo:9329760/vessel:EAGLE_S

@grrlscientist We could also argue eg ”why sponsor basic research which does not lead immediate results and not instead resolve poverty”. I consider that take as classic populism. Money by itself solves nothing. Working economy and innovation does because it has actual value. Cash is more like microscale debt with time dependent value.

Definitely will order Finnish Amiga Users Groups magazine now that is making a comeback in order to support grass root hacking culture in Finland!

We already have neo-retro computer magazine Skrolli:

@saku is there both PDF and paper version options like with Skrolli. Most likely will order for the sake of supporting grass roots hacker culture in Finland!

@grrlscientist Doing stuff in space is crucial for civilization. It has provided us eg microprocessors and microwave ovens 🙂 It is the thing that drives innovation other than war industry.

@grrlscientist I think one thing that we should invest more money in space is asteroid mining. https://www.wired.com/story/things-are-looking-up-for-asteroid-mining/

@bipartisan Also sucking Putin's cock is not at least my definition of "greatest nation in the world" TBH but let's not get into that...

@bipartisan Yeah, I don't think that US troops are *actually* ever going to make Greenland invasion but it still pretty rude and stupid to even say shit like that.

If United States claim it is greatest nation in the world then it should also act accordingly IMHO ;-) Not bullying small countries...

@bipartisan Yeah, I mean obviously the Greenland talk was garbage but I can only imagine what kind of tensions this type of bullshit can cause e.g. in Asian cultures. We don't *actually* care a fuck in Nordic countries;-)

Russia has been at least a minor threat to Scandinavia for past 100 years but now it seems to be have to be proactively worried of US stealing our lands 🤷 Greenland is part of Denmark but obviously we're on the same boat for all territories that any country in Scandinavia and Baltic area owns.

Through some random recruitment offers I've noticed a new trend: startup websites with AI generated graphics.

If I wanted to make sure that my next startup gets neither talent nor funding that would be also the angle in branding that I'd take!
