Linux kernel hacker and maintainer etc.

Maybe unpopular opinion: this isn’t sustainable

If you’ve got so many users on your instance(s) that it’s costing you $4k pcm (and however many tens of thousands of dollars he claims to have spent so far) and you need to solicit money from your users/community, this is not “decentralised”

Dan needs to stop amassing users and focus on building the software. Let other admins carry the load of actually running the service

I focus on (and this time actually mean it) to other topics #FOSDEM. You can relax now :-) I rarely trigger these days but moral and ethical dishonesty is just too much for me.

Maybe I went too far but on the other hand there was like a mass campaign with absolutely zero real argument so just wanted make sure that idiocracy gets attention.

A classic text about software rasterizing. I scavenged this so that I could make something more fun than that stupid checker at some point for my test :-)

At the time made for the first gen Pentium but most of the stuff still applies:

It's still a good one if you want to fill some triangles...

January 2025’s featured mix is from a long-standing Human Spectrum DJ Mörkö-Anneli. He plays our music with a twist.. Upward. A lot 🤟😎

Not a huge hardware synth fan (I like software and do not have space) but I do have a thing for EA-1/MS-2000/Microkorg. They are kind of like "same family".

If (actually more like when) I buy a bigger house I'll get used MS-2000 :-) It's quite limited compared to e.g. JP-8000 but has tons more character.

Gaze upon him 🧡

Karvinen does this thing where he gets up on his little behind and puts his paws in the air when he is making considerate demands. If you put your hands close enough, he'll grasp them so he can stay sitting and firmly insist. He won't let go unless you take the hands away, and thus you can jiggle the entire cat.

Somehow also EA-1 looks best when it has weathered and worn by time. I guess it has a soul now ;-)

Process specific ABI (psABI) specification can take dozens of pages in total. For RISC-V the spec has 95 pages. It is not ergonomic to print it all, so what to print out?

I usually print just the section enumerating the relocation's. It is the nastiest differentiatior and the part one is most likely continue to revisit forever after 🙂 For RISC-V that totals six pages.

@vadorovsky OK, sorry it is a bit "in the close thing" for me ;-) People have strong feelings on the topic and I notice that I easily go on defensive mode or am like "I'm sorry but..."...

@vadorovsky It's actually a bit same with AI and LLM's. I'm not a big fan and thus I hope that people who I personally trust in the tech world would work on the topic. From philosophical perspective, it is sort of "existential standing point". I can easily make deduction that it is most likely not possible to make neither AI nor blockchains go away. Thus, it is better that people who are right side of the history work on those topics.

Maybe less Nazi salutes would help with a more positive turn?
