@jwildeboer it's a bit drastic with header rewriting, but otherwise it should work for non-technical lists. You can keep your lists DMARC compliant *and* preserve original headers, which has a bonus of preserving sender domain authentication.

@llvm @LWN Sorry, I read "Gnudi hackers" as "nudie hackers" and couldn't get past that point because my whole brain seized up.

This was a productive Friday, even if I didn't get to all outstanding b4 patches. B4 0.13-dev gained a `b4 prep --cleanup` feature that will be handy for people sending many series and it allows archiving and cleaning up git objects used for series tracking.

We had our heat pump replaced and a new central thermostat put in. We were supposed to get a wifi enabled one, but looks like they installed a cheaper version that isn't wifi-capable.

I ain't even mad.

Pretty sure I'm on LWN entirely due to my skillful use of dadjoke titles.

@jwildeboer well, list-label is "dot-atom-text" as well, so it can contain periods. In the context of "nyt.1.0.sparkpostmail.com" the namespace would be "sparkpostmail.com", so the list-label is "nyt.1.0".

Goes to show that you can write all the standards you like, but you can't make people use them sanely. :)

@jwildeboer I'm not saying their naming convention isn't stupid, just that using "@" isn't actually allowed per RFC.

@jwildeboer not trying to out-greybeard you or anything, but RFC2919 mandates the format of that header, and it can't use a "@". :)

@conor basically, as I understand it, if there is ever a court hearing, a judge needs to establish your identity "beyond reasonable doubt." It's easiest if your signed-off-by matches your legal name, but it can also be established via witness testimony. I wrote about it at some point here:

@mpe @brauner One thing I can sneakily suggest is to use https://msgid.link/<msgid>; for Link: trailers pointing at patch series submissions and lore.kernel.org for Link: trailers pointing at discussions.

@vbabka @kernellogger I should raise this with @nitrokey folks first, as it could be something weird with the HEADS firmware interaction.

One year of shame.

I don't really consider myself Russian any more -- I moved to the US in 1995 when I was 19 and then again to Canada in 2005. I am Canadian and I consider myself Canadian, and yet I no doubt still feel a connection to Russia because that's where I grew up.

I am wholeheartedly against Putin's criminal regime and what it has done to the country since it took power. To me, it is a criminal syndicate, ruled by a cowardly mob kingpin. The longer he remained in power, the more he developed delusions of "manifest destiny" historical grandeur -- and his cleptocratic flunkies (inside Russia and beyond) did nothing to rein him in because it lined their pockets and bolstered their political careers.

The Russia I left in 1995 was a young democratic nation, looking with great hope into the future where Russian citizens can be part of a prosperous and peaceful Eurasian continent. Unfortunately, things turned out differently. Russia has not only shattered its future prospects -- it has become a geopolitical monster eating not only its own young, but the young of its neighbours. It offers no plan, no hope, and no future for its people other than stagnation, decay, and death. It has become a textbook fascist dictatorship and it must be contained and excised before it metastasizes too much further into the rest of the world.

I feel sorrow for the people of Ukraine and Georgia, whose lands were occupied and whose livelihoods were impacted by Russia's criminal actions. I feel great pain for all who were murdered or maimed by the invading army. I hope your lives will be avenged and that the criminals responsible for your pain will see justice.

Fascism must be opposed. Slava Ukraini.
