Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
@dcz Thank you, that's much better. Is there any special setup to be done?

I'm getting permission denied. Running it as root does not fix stuff.

(Is there easy way to force CPU fallback just to test things)?

droidian@ONEPLUSA6003:/my/libobscura$ /my/libobscura/target/debug/raw --raw 5000,3000,8 /tmp/delme.raw RGGB /tmp/delme.tiff

@martijnbraam Yep, that seems to be identical problem. Fun thing is unplugging the weird device does not fix the problems...

@dcz Where do I get the bayer binary or its sources? Best I could find is crates/crispy/src/shaders/bayer.rs, and that seems to be something else.

@dcz So far I found that I should be able to build on Droidian on oneplus6, but that has no working camera. I'd really like to play with rggb8 -> rgb888 conversion on the GPU, is that going to be feasible with the current code? (Any hints? :-) )

@martijnbraam Dunno. After plugging it in, desktop fails to react properly to some mouse events. I did not debug it much further, but it basically means you have to log out.

@dcz Ok, so which phone should I play with? I'd like to try libobscura. README says "cargo run --bin glium_2". But I guess "cd libobscura/crates/vidi-examples" is needed before that. And that, on right system. On Librem 5, I get "this version of Cargo is older than the `2021` edition, and only supports `2015` and `2018` editions.".

@martijnbraam I don't believe it even has a mouse part. Its just somehow detected as one. And sw solution is required for this ;-).

I have two devices (train controller and autopilot panel) that are detected as mice in Linux, breaking the desktop when they are plugged in. How to deal with them? Blacklist in kernel? Somewhere in udev

@as400 @alpinelinux Assuming it is accurate :-). It would not be first time battery meters not working properly in edge case.

@ljs Well, what do you believe should be done there? Hong Kong is China, and that can't be fixed. (And yes, communists torture people, Ujgurs, too, probably more). Taiwan is not China, and we can probably make it stay that way. But it is really quite hard to influence country with 1e9 people and nukes. We can't even influence North Korea, 1e7 people and few nukes :-(, and have very hard time influencing Russia, 1e8 people and nukes.

@chucker @jiska @albrecht @abdelkader_boui Is there any writeup how this works? Having phone check for updates for weeks on one battery change is not easy.

@jiska @abdelkader_boui @chucker @albrecht Updating phones in original packaging... How would that work? Legality versus shipping such packages using airplanes? Power management considerations?

@b0rk What tips? Just use distro setup, it should work. Nowadays it would usually be "esc, char", but... That really depends on your terminal. echo $TERM, man termcap, man terminfo, man curses, I guess? :-)

Tak jsem konecne pochopil jak muze fungovat system dvou stran. Youtube -- U.S. Polling Is Pitiful, and It's a Danger to Democracy [hhaNiF5aCCY].

Great explanation how two-party system can actually work.

@Curator Thanks. I was not aware that following hashtag is an option.

@thamesynne Actually, I believe we should bring back phones. Those pocket computers are too big for horse riding, and too small for ssh and web...

@xstian You don't know what the difference between strategic nuke and tactical nuke is, do you?

@dcz Original PinePhone would be suitable target. It has smart sensor, so you'll hit different problems from L5.
