Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
@mozillacz Dekuji. Ono v te pravnicine hraje roli jazykova bariera a rozdily v zakonech mezi zememi.

@mozillacz A podle vasich webovych stranek taky novy spyware. https://blog.mozilla.org/en/products/firefox/update-on-terms-of-use/ a zakaz stahovat porno. "You give Mozilla the rights necessary to operate Firefox. ... It also includes a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license for the purpose of doing as you request with the content you input in Firefox." Na jakem pravnim zaklade tvrdite ze jsou terms-of-use zavazne? Jsou v souladu s ceskym pravem? Je firefox jeste "free software"? Nebylo by dobre takhle zavaznou zmenu zminit, kdyz uz zminujete "aktualizovanou postrani listu"?

@ozzelot Yep, that's the point! :). Eyes limit what you can easily see, so clever people are adding detail, not moving to ever smaller elements.

@arnd Embedded world -- likely not. Probably ELCE later this year.

For the full disclosure, I have X220 and X230 I'm not using, so I'd basically add X61t to the collection. Would like to have tablet thinkpad :-).

Anyway, I see that x86-32 is ugly. OTOH it is well-known architecture and now patent-free... and FPGA toys such as MISTer https://www.retrorgb.com/mister.html are powerful enough to do 486sx. That can't run today's Linux, but feels close. One day, I'd like run Linux on free hardware, and x86-32 may be reasonable way to do that.

@jalefkowit 3. Because third party does not claim they magically have copyright agreement with me because I happen to run their piece of software. You can't force me to enter copyright agreement like that, and Mozilla's lawyers should know that. I trust Debian has non-crazy lawyers, and I trust Debian maintainers to audit Mozilla's code, and disable any spyware. I no longer trust Mozilla not to introduce spyware, when they lawyers say they did that.

@Gargron @EUCommission Actually, we should start doing end-to-end security. GPG-signed email to the list is more trustworhy than post on the social media, exactly because of the GPG signature. I guess people could do GPG-signed posts in the fediverse, but signatures are still more common in the email :-).

Jazykove modely skvele modeluji jazyk. Na odpovidani na otazky... je to horsi.

codeberg, can I create pull requests without having account?
ChatGPT said:

Odesláním patchů e-mailem (pokud to projekt akceptuje)
Otevřením issue s odkazem na váš kód (hostovaný jinde)
Potřebujete pomoct s konkrétním projektem?

....You said:
Otevru issue bez uctu?

@waldi (And we can talk about security next time spectre-like vulnerability appears in recent CPUs. Hardening is cool, but we know the modern CPUs are broken by design, and what we do in kernel are workarounds, not fixes. Unfortunately, X60 is new enough to have speculation bugs, but I'm pretty sure exploits will not work there :-) ).

@waldi Yeah, that's why it is second-best notebook. Still, don't break it :-).

@dcz So my plans are:

Modify obscura_getframe:

1) add GRW trailer specifying format

2) create files as .tmp, only moving them to .grw when hey are complete

3) capture continously

More details and how to get ucam working are on https://gitlab.com/tui/tui/-/tree/master/ucam?ref_type=heads .

Any comments? :-)

@kernellogger @arnd @torvalds Highmem is needed to keep 32-bit machines useful. Without it, limit is 1GB RAM or something like that. You need 2GB RAM for useful web browser... Plus, Thinkpad X60, the second best notebook ever, is 32bit. I have one with 3GB, and it would be nice to keep it going.

@mircoxi You should not upload porn to their bugzilla. I guess that's what they are saying... They can't control what you do on your computer, and AUP does not even pretend to claim that. (Good). Their TOS is bad because they claim it covers your use of Firefox, when it does not / can not. The AOS is ok.

@dcz But the code in raw.rs can only do single frame ATM, so that is not easy to test...?

@dcz Okay, so ... I did some rather crazy hacks, and my python scripting can now do live preview (at 1fps) and am close to taking photos. Would there be interest in that?

@dcz I got it running, thanks. I did not look at the output, but it takes 1.2 seconds on Librem5. Simple on-cpu solution is faster than that :-(.

@radxa @jevinskie @hrw You should not be releasing binaries before you are sure you can release sources.
