Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
@arcaneoverflow @derf Yes, pretty clearly having a charger that simply provides 12V on USB is very bad idea. But also, if you are making an USB device, please make it 20V tolerant. Polyfuse or something. [And I believe at least some manufacturers are doing that.]

@calcifer @wwahammy So I'm in EU, so not that familiar with US politics... but my compass says this is wrong.

@whitequark @derf Why do you believe it will not survive 12V?

I guess you should not try, because it may be out of spec for the devices, but old Nokia phones were designed for 5V charging, but were actually designed to survive 15V IIRC according to service manuals.

I'd strongly suggest anything USB to survive 20V these days, and may guess is that a lot of hardware would actually survive.

@derf Can you actually do any USB killing with it? They should not be doing this, but any USB device should probably expect 20V on the input these days... and my guess is that many devices will tolerate 12V just ok.

@phoronix Is the screenshot confusing? I guess you can do such nice UI after a reboot if panic was written to the logs, but in case of panic, system is too broken to do GUI like that.

re: genai, about copyright abolition

@airtower @lumi Yes please. Copyright reform has been needed for long, long time. Unfortunately AFAICT international agreements make it hard :-(. What was original US copyright, 14+14 years? Something like that would be way better than current situation.

@jarkko Seriously, how does that work? Is it a joke? README does not say. Last time I checked, DOS did not have security / MMU required to protect itself...?

Jedem... vzhledem k rocnimu obdobi docela daleko.

@calcifer @wwahammy For the record, creating law that goes against constitution .... dunno, is that even legal? Sounds very wrong to me.

Dear soldiers. Remember, a) congress has to start a war, not a wannabe-king, b) you may not commit a war crime, c) you must refuse illegal orders. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/trump-weighing-several-options-us-troops-iran-rcna263909

@calcifer @wwahammy I'm not US expert, and some coverage suggested this applied to "Johny developer places ISO images for download" situation. It is well possible coverage should have been more careful.
