@cmccullough Especially since you can get your voting right removed based on conviction at least in some states (I think that convicted criminals should have right to vote even when doing jail time).

Good job America! "The extra 4 GtCO₂ₑ from a second Trump term [will] negate – twice over – all of the savings from deploying wind, solar and other clean technologies around the world over the past five years."

Europe followed the US into Afghanistan. Then US voters elected Trump and he pulled the plug.

Europe let the US lead the defence of Ukraine. And now US voters have voted for Trump, who wants Putin to win.

Europe has centered it's security politics around a US led NATO, and American voters have now voted for Trump, who wants to pull out of NATO.

It is time for a stronger, more capable, and fully independent Europe.

For our generation, this is our Churchill moment — it is time to lead.

"mold is a faster drop-in replacement for existing Unix linkers. It is several times quicker than the LLVM lld linker, the second-fastest open-source linker, which I initially developed a few years ago. mold aims to enhance developer productivity by minimizing build time, particularly in rapid debug-edit-rebuild cycles."

Fedora should really have sccache in the main package repository. Seems to be quite essential for developing with Rust. It can also carry ccache tasks for C.

@harald ah, but you could still take the log ;-) rtcwake spell that i put just put the machine to suspend for 15 seconds and wakes it up automatically.

@kernellogger @ikkeT I'll look into this later on :-) I worked around the bug by disabling suspend on lid close for now. Just wanted to get dmesg dumped to a bug report fast...

@vbabka There's quite universal consensus in Finland supporting Ukraine even in far left and right. Most of us have relatives only two generations ago who have lost their homes and land because of war. So yeah, we are proactively concerned what is going to happen now.

@vbabka you were 100% right and thanks for making a point 🙂 saved me from making fool of myself. It was both stupid and ignorant

@vbabka also 3/4 of my grandparents are karelian refugees - even if I throw a bad joke does not mean that I would not take shit seriously. For me bad jokes are way to stay sane - that said not always appropriate I get that

@harald As a kernel developer I recommend instead disabling suspend and reporting the bug ;-) Usually kernel oops is a potential memory corruption, which can by definition have undefined collateral effects.

E.g. do "rtcwake -s 15 -m mem" and dump dmesg contents to the bug report.

When it comes to disabling suspend, it seems that making "lid close" not do anything is particularly hard these days so I made this short screencast of it :-)

I tried all combinations, and for the reasons I have no idea of, both upower and logind configuration need to be edited.

@chimbosonic Yeah, I'll spending a lot of time with some Rust projects so definitely worth of investment for saving nerves.

edit: I got less that 7 min compilation time with a project having over 2100 sub-crates to compile per build from clean state, once cache was warmed up first, so thanks for the tip!
