I was one of the crew members on the Lost series. Don't worry, you're not alone, nobody on the crew understood the ending either.

One of the hardest things to accept as an adult is just how deep injustice goes in every area of life.

I'm not talking the big injustices, I'm talking the small ones, the petty ones. Ones that might, though in fact, be big in your life.

Sadly those who do you wrong, speak smooth words justifying what they did, using power to lie their way out of it in a way you can't rebut, - they'll get away with it.

Completely. With no come back. And they'll be happy, and won't even think they've done anything wrong. They'll never learn, grow old and die, surrounded by loving family.

Nothing will right the wrong, correct the incorrect.

Liars are believed, rewarded and lauded, truth tellers are more often than not punished and debased.

There are myriad awful shitty people out there who will absolutely fuck you over and absolutely get away with it, thrive and be loved by society.

There's no magical daddy in the sky who'll come fix it.

Truly, really and honestly facing up to that is a fucking hard thing.

I think a lot of people at some level harbour some belief that 'karma' applies or the universe will 'balance' itself or that people will notice the terrible pieces of shit and cast them out.

Nope, sorry, it's the opposite. You'll be punished for pointing it out :)

And everything happens for no reason.

Oh so when Buddha answers questions nonverbally, it's a "koan" and he's "reaching enlightenment" but when I answer questions nonverbally it's "rude" and I ”need to work on my social skills"

The terminology of process vs. tasks vs. threads vs. thread groups let alone once you bring in virtualised TGIDs etc. is officially absolutely fucked and annoying

Amazing that you come across people posting things that are just totally incorrect about kernel stuff on various sites (and 'certain' publishers seem to love to publish an endless stream of low quality content like this).

It makes me super anxious though, maybe my book is inaccurate too etc. etc. makes me check things more and more and more...

Not done bench press for ages, gave it a go today, up to 80kg from 60kg last time I checked, progress!

Weird as I can hit 105kg seated press in the gym, weird how changing the parameters of a movement alters things somewhat (probably some muscles isolated on that that aren't on bench!)

138kg squat, 118kg deadlift (yeah weird I can squat more) and 80kg bench is pretty decent I reckon for where I'm at, and big increases on where I was not so long ago.

The voyage continues!

It's remarkable the level of performative commitment to causes that institutions engage in, meanwhile behaving in completely the opposite manner.

Sadly there are numerous firms that offer services to enable these institutions to act as if they give a shit.

A classic example will be govt ministers doing some PR on 'World X day' where X is whatever cause you might think of, meanwhile blocking legislation that would ACTUALLY help people or promoting new legislation that'd actively harm people.

Charity begins at home, and proof of charity begins at home too.

Ridiculous.

The UK's employment laws are already MASSIVELY weighted towards the employer. People in the UK make a bunch of assumptions about their rights that are simply totally untrue.

Taking away the ability to be signed off work because you're genuinely very unwell and putting that in the hands of some bureaucrat is frankly appalling.

Luckily it's moot, as the tories don't stand a chance at the next election.
