If "Audio format not available in my region," then maybe you shouldn't let me register and pay in my region, since you know for a fact that it's not going to do me any good?

Officiated my last baseball game of the season. You probably have never felt the depth of self-loathing that I did tonight for having to call a start-and-stop balk on a poor 12-year-old pitcher to walk in the winning run of the game. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Hanging up my umpire face mask until May 2026.

Fighting for privacy rights is fighting against fascism. In case there were any doubts that mass surveillance is a fascist's tool.

Privacy isn't some secondary luxury, it's fundamental to democracy and civil liberties.

@taketwo I see where you're coming from, but that invalidates cryptographic signatures and breaks end-to-end attestation.

@forst Yes, and the most annoying part is that if they want to train their stupid AI whatever, they can just clone the underlying repositories instead of hitting us for every URL.

Some botfarm is aggressively crawling lore.kernel.org pretending to be b4 in the user-agent, except that real b4 has a very distinct usage pattern, so it's easy for me to recognize and ban them.

@bagder Great! Obviously, a bad cookie shouldn't break things. I'll report this to Anubis upstream.

@bagder Nice, this means you have a bogus cookie that is messing things up somehow and clearing cookies in your main browser should unblock you.

@bagder no worries. I'll poke at this some more, it's bugging me. If you're still willing to try something, open an incognito window in firefox and see if you have the same result.

@bagder Yeah, wish I was able to replicate that. I do see the 503 in the logs, but it seems to be tied to one IP (which I assume is yours).

@bagder it helps that you get the Stockholm frontend -- it doesn't see a lot of traffic. Any change now?

@bagder Strange. The fact that even the mascot isn't loading suggests that something is going very wrong. What does "lore.kernel.org" resolve to for you (it's actually 5 different systems depending on where in the world you are).
