@sesivany @bycx Po te, co se objevil Spectre a jeho asi 20 variant uz bych si na oddeleni VM nesazel. Spekulace + cache se s bezpecnosti dost vylucujou :-(.

@sesivany @jwildeboer I'm still using OLPC. It still has sunlight-readable display and many hours on original battery. Museum can have it when it stops being useful :-).

@ptesarik @kernellogger It looks like we are on the same boat with the big fish, too :-). Plus, Microsoft is still evil -- yes, they need Linux, so they contribute a bit, but the way they push Windows 11 and Office subscription is unethical. They are not cool open source company...

@kernellogger I had bad feeling when Microsoft started contributing to Linux kernel :-).

@mntmn Cool. Not sure how I'd power it on, I prefer power key for that. But... what functionalities do you have for the "main CPU off" case?

@martijnbraam @fdlamotte People like flashy apps, and with opensource, people do what they like. Things are quickly getting better, soon we'll have enough manpower so that even "boring" jobs get done :-).

@martijnbraam @fdlamotte People tend to what they can, and flashy apps are fun :). Eventually, enough people will join the effort that even the "boring" work gets done, but I'm afraid we are not quite there. But things are getting better :-).

@okias @martijnbraam @whynothugo That's not really feasible. libcamera is big project. I view megapixels as research into taking still photos. libcamera is more of drivers for various ISPs, with no particular focus.

@martijnbraam They are not mutually exclusive. Megapixels is for still photos and more mature. Libcamera is for the rest, and slowly getting there, maybe. I'm afraid video input is simply quite hard, and is not getting adequate attention :-(.

@martijnbraam I'm looking at megapixels-org... thinking about adding video recording. Currently I'm playing with Droidian, where megapixels would not be quite suitable, but perhaps I'd like others, too. I see megapixels now has config for Librem 5 -- does that mean full support there? Plus... how fast is dng writing? Would it be comparable to saving raw data to the disk, or is it more like jpeg encoding?

@mkyral @randahl There should really be "doctrine of first sale" for software.

@bart @su @cas 1000km/h would be quite high... even an airliner would need tailwind for that. 124km/h is rather slow, but small planes could do that.

@hrw Yep, CRTs are bad. But I'm starting to find out that LCD over VGA is not great, either.

@hrw Do you notice difference between VGA and digital display connections? Somehow my eyes learned to recognize VGA and they don't really like that one :-(.

@kernellogger I just hope this is not backported to stable...
