@FoxVK Tak mesto uhodnuto :-). A teda ono u nekoho je trochu problem kdyz nemuze do prace, zvlast kdyz tu praci bere trochu jako poslani... (A pak taky co na to zamestnavatel). Ale jinak souhlasim ze problem "silnicaru je malo" neni uplne vhodne resit tim "par jich zastrelime" :-).

Kun tlacny

Venku kalamita, kamaradka chce strilet silnicare, tak to je cas na kone a bezky, ne? Beru z domova nejaky jablka, a jo, vybehy z nich maj radost. A Linie ma radost ze me, ale musim ji zklamat, dneska ji domu nevedu. Zato zlutaka jo, beru k nemu pobrisak -- ten dostane kolem krku, dve voditka, a spoustu pamlsku. Pobrisak je ze zacatku moc dlouhej, a ja se nemuzu dost dobre chytit tak, aby to bylo prijatelny pro me i pro kone, ale starej trik "chytim se hrivy a on nakluse" stale funguje. Zkousim udelat z kone tazneho kone tlacneho, i to nejak jde, ale idealni to neni. Samozrejme krmim, hodne krmim. Objizdim lom, a dostavam se na volnej prostor. Zatim zlutaka mam na ohlavce, ale chtel bych se dostat k "tahne me, ridim hlasem".

Jenze z louky jsou videt svetylka. A zlutak se diva na svetylka ... tamhle je Doubek, tamhle jede auticko, a tamhle je dokonce autobus... a za nim auticka. Jde to super, takze uvazuju ze to trochu prodlouzim. No, malicko jsem to asi prepisk. Tamhle to nejsou auticka, to jsou ctyrnohy svetlusky. Vyjizdka a to zlutaka super zajima. Coz ovsem znamena ze ja ho az tak nezajimam... a to je malinko problem, protoze mam jen "tazny" voditko. No nic, jeste dojdem taamhle a tam to otocime. No, otaci to trochu moc s chuti, a kluse. To je super, dokazu jeste zastavit? Tak jo, brzdeni funguje. Muzem naklusat, muzem zastavit. Parada, jen mi trochu dochazej pamlsky. Chtel bych, aby sel krokem (mensi spotreba), ale to se uplne nedari, tak nic, davam posledni a beru ho zas na voditko. Parada, tentokrat to vyslo!

Jo, a nejaka pravidla plati. Jedno z nich je "zeme s atomovkama velmi, velmi nerady vidi konkurenci". Takze zbrojit primerene ano, porizovat si atomovky by asi ... bylo dost drahe a neni to nezbytne nutne.

@temmie19 45MB is a bit small, yes. (Linux would fit there, but... you probably want to avoid complexity).

Rather then starting from scratch, may I suggest starting from something existing? I have a good experience with https://www.espruino.com/ -- running it on smartwatch with less than 1MB RAM. If you have a touchscreet, it should be good fit.

Being open source is important part there.

@rmader I see that using same buffers for preview and still images is good enough for webcams, but I don't think it is good enough for phones. [We have 100MPix sensors, and 50MPix sensors are not uncommon.]

@rmader Agreed, jpeg encoding in clients is good for now. May need revisit when we have good hardware acceleration for encoding.

@lkundrak :-(. Currently I'm staying on MATE (aka Gnome 2). I tried newer Gnome and apparently Gnome is now Shareware ("please pay"). Breaking cut&paste will be another reason to look elsewhere.

@rmader Well... the thread began with "more than tuning is needed", and this is decision which will lead to redesign later. We'll likely want to use same tuning for gpuISP and then for hq-still-photo-component, and hq-still-photo-component does not exist at the moment :-).

And "why not use gpuISP at the moment". Well, besides quality, gpuISP only has one output. We need that output for preview. And that means we have photos in BAYER.

Being able to feed libcamera with BAYER data, and saying "Librem 5 back camera took this BAYER, please convert it to RGB in high quality" would be good.
