Finally got power back at home. Thinking of people in Kharkiv who have been without power for days and who still don't know if and when they will get it back.

@Ertain vehicle-to-grid is becoming more common, thankfully. Our next car purchase will take that into consideration for sure.

Periodic lamentation about how stupid it is to have 80kWh sitting in my driveway and no way to use it for the rest of the house in emergencies.

@kernellogger because today is 4.04 :)

(Greg didn't tag the change, which is why it didn't trigger a rebuild. It should be updated shortly.)

Closed source software doesnโ€™t have backdoors.

It does have โ€œundocumented administrative featuresโ€ and โ€œdevelopment tools mistakenly enabled in productionโ€, but not backdoors.

Yes, it is possible to backdoor the upstream kernel. No, I'm not the right guy to ask. I literally have a talk about this.

I accidentally found a security issue while benchmarking postgres changes.

If you run debian testing, unstable or some other more "bleeding edge" distribution, I strongly recommend upgrading ASAP.

Also, as far as error messages go, this is pretty terrible. How can a message exceed a quota? Did it mean node? Recipient?

GMail hits new levels of being unusable for kernel work:

(host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[74.125.200.26] said: 421-4.7.28 Gmail has detected this message exceeded its quota for sending 421-4.7.28 messages with the same Message-ID. To best protect our users, the 421-4.7.28 message has been temporarily rejected. For more information, go to 421 4.7.28 https://support.google.com/mail/answer/188131 me13-20020a170902fc4d00b001e0cd7403a1si1415673plb.79 - gsmtp (in reply to end of DATA command))

Needless to say, this affects delivery of messages sent to multiple mailing lists if the recipient is subscribed to several of them.

From a tweet of mine from 2011, but evergreen:

I DEMAND TO KNOW WHY YOUR GROUP OF OVERWORKED VOLUNTEERS, WHICH I AM NOT A MEMBER OF, IS NOT PURSUING MY PERSONAL GRIEVANCE.

@krzk @sam_ravnborg the web relay rewrites the From and puts the original From: header into the patch body, same as git-send-email would do when the committer is different from sender.
