Riding horses, hacking computers, phones and smartwatch.
So I took a bait and switched to gpt-4o in chatgpt. Things are now unusuably slow and there's no way to go back to gpt-3. :-(.

@lolgzs @rolandlo You can use old kernel -- with Droidian, camera works.

@drewdevault What is "Hare"? Aha, programming language. Why doesn't wikipedia know about it? This is kind of funny:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hare_(disambiguation)
Hare (computer virus), which infected MS-DOS and Windows 95 machines in August 1996
Hare language, a dialect of the Slavey language spoken in Canada

What is the RAM requirement for Bunnix? I guess 256KB would be a bit too tight?

@drewdevault It seems lot of shady figures like to prey on Yoga... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregorian_Bivolaru

Megapixels 2 now record video. Unlimited length in YUV mode, ~30 second limit in Bayer mode. Details are here: https://gitlab.com/megapixels-org/Megapixels/-/merge_requests/15 I did a test video with -- horse, not a cat, today -- but audio quality is quite bad. I may need to investigate and yes, there's quite a lot of work to do.

@martijnbraam If we really wanted to optimize it, we should make dmabufs cacheable and then pass those around. But I'm afraid that would mean less nice code :-(. Cacheability would help a _lot_, passing memory around would be theoretically nice but not that much of a win I believe.

@martijnbraam Thanks for the writeup :-). There's still more work to do, frames are being dropped in the C code on my pinephone way too often. That needs to be solved before we know what kind of performance is possible.

@dos @stu @eliasr Well... Millipixels is kind of strange hybrid (Rust+C+libcamera), based on old gtk and Librem 5-only. Megapixels can do Librem + PP + PPP and more, so it is likely future, therefore worth testing and switching to. Not sure if it improves image quiality.

@dos @pak0st @badumtss Yes, you can do debayer (etc) on gpu. git@gitlab.com:tui/debayer-gpu.git But nicely integrating that is not easy; it should probably go into libcamera.

@mkyral @rholas @piratzbrna Na ccc byla prednaska o elektronickych volbach. Nebylo to uplne povzbudive. To ze se na velke podvody snadno prijde neni uplne pravda, ono na pocitacovem systemu proste neni videt jestli je nebo neni udelany dobre. 37c3 -- Should e-voting experience of Estonia be copied?

@ptesarik @ljs @oleksandr @pony @djasa @lkundrak Some parachutes are called paraglides ... and they do glide :-). Some may be even quite competitive, they definitely can climb in thermals.

@dos @stu @eliasr Aha, ok, I misunderstood. So problem is not so much JPEG as quality of raw->JPEG conversion; yes, that can be case. BTW I don't have Librem 5 to work with at the moment; Megapixels should now work on that one. Would it be possible to test Megapixels and perhaps switch to that?

@fell @enigmatico @lunareclipse Its more complex then that. There are more than two different clipboard systems in Linux, and two of them are commonly used at the same time.

@djasa @pony @oleksandr @lkundrak @ljs IIRC helicopters have worse glide ratio than airplanes, but don't require that much place to stop once they land.

@dos @stu @eliasr I actually don't believe JPEG is Librem 5's biggest problem. There's still lot of work on Librem 5. IIRC kernel driver only passed 8-bit bayer. Plus we need to do all the lens corrections etc.

@ljs @ben @vbabka Well, your arguments were a bit disappointing, too. LMs are useful for trivial tasks, and for easy tasks where you can verify the result. I do both kinds of tasks from time to time.

@ljs @vbabka @ben Hint: try it. It saved work for me.

@vbabka @ben Its not. Using LLM to answer questions might not be good idea, but they should work rather well at translations, including translations between programming languates.
